State-owned and commercial entities, operating in the utilities sector, such as gas, electric transport, and water firms, are obliged to apply the EU procurement policy when they purchase goods, services and works to pursue an activity in one of these sectors. The rules adopted with the Concessions Directive allow public policy makers to use public contracts and concessions more effectively, modernise the public sector and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable model of growth.
Our Master Class offers a comprehensive introduction to the legal and practical framework of utilities and concessions contracts. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the contractual structures typically used in the sector, the allocation of risks between public and private parties, and the interaction with procurement, competition, and sector-specific regulation.
The Master Class includes a detailed case-study, allowing participants to apply the discussed concepts in a practical context, and will be concluded with an interactive problem-solving session, encouraging discussion and the exchange of perspectives on real-world challenges. For a detailed list of our topics and presentations during the Master Class, see the programme below.
Participants receive a certificate upon participation.
