Glykeria Demataki is head of unit for Directorate K (Foreign Subsidies) at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission, based in Brussels. A qualified lawyer in New York and Athens, Glykeria practiced law mostly in Brussels before serving as referendaire at the European Union General Court. Since the 2000s, she has held numerous roles within the European Commission including posts in Directorate General for Trade, Directorate General for Competition (Cartels, Mergers –Markets and Basic Industries, Transport–), OLAF (Directorate of Agricultural and Structural Funds), Maritime and Fisheries Cabinet with positions of Case Manager, Deputy Head of Unit and Head of Unit. Ms Demataki holds a Doctorate (Ph.D) in European and International Trade law from the University of Paris 2 (Sorbonne) and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School where she was also a Visiting Scholar.
