Nicola Pesaresi

Nicola Pesaresi is Deputy Director for Energy at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission and responsible for State aid in the Energy sector. He has been previously responsible for cross-cutting policies and level playing field in the Task Force for the preparation and conduct of the negotiations with the United Kingdom under Art. 50 TFEU. He has formerly been responsible for State aid policy, State aid scrutiny and State aid coordination. He joined the European Commission in 1999. His career started at the Bank of Italy where he spent nine years in the department for banking supervision.

He is an economist by education, graduated from Yale University with a Master of Arts in Economics, and from Bocconi University with a degree in Economics and Social Sciences.
