Aidan O’Brien
Head of AMIF Responsible Authority, Department of Justice and Equality, Dublin
Aidan O’Brien is Head of Service Delivery for the Civil Justice and Equality areas of the Department of Justice and Equality. This includes responsibility for administrative areas including Central Authorities work (i.e., International Child Abduction, International Maintenance Recovery and European Account Preservation Orders) and also all funding for the Civil Justice and Equality area which include European and national funding streams. EU Funds include the European Social Fund and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of which Aidan is Head of the Responsible Authority. Aidan is responsible for oversight of funding to over 400 projects in the areas of gender equality, refugee integration, Traveller and Roma projects as well as Victims of Crime funding. Prior to this assignment he worked in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for more than 20 years with 10 years as project manager of ICT projects related to the management and distribution of EU funds such as EAFRD and EMFF and systems for managing export refunds. Aidan has a BSc and MSc in IT Management and in his spare time volunteers as a paramedic and has an interest in landscape photography.
