Project Development Manager, Welsh European Funding Office

Mike Wallwork is responsible for Financial Instruments within the Welsh European Funding Office. Whilst managing the closure of the Wales JEREMIE Fund in the 2007 to 2014 programme he was also responsible for co-ordinating the development of the Wales Business Fund in the 2014-20 programme. The fund has been operational since August 2016 and has been performing strongly. Mike was instrumental in the establishment of the FINE group: a network comprising lead representatives with responsibility for Financial Instruments in the UK Managing Authorities, co-ordinated by the European Policy Research Centre.

Mike has a broad range of experience of working in the private, public and third sectors. Notably in 1988 he was winner of the Young Business Person of the Year at the Welsh National Business Awards, for his work in setting up a company producing educational video programmes for schools. He was also responsible for establishing the Mid Wales Film Commission (part funded by ERDF Objective 5b) and in 2002 was appointed Head of the Wales Screen Commission before joining Welsh Government in 2007. He holds a BSc honours degree and in 2013 graduated with an MSc in Leadership and Management in Public Services. He is also a qualified (ILM Level 7) Executive coach.
