This workshop explores the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence in the defence sector, with a particular focus on how European regulatory frameworks and international legal obligations shape the development and deployment of emerging technologies. The event examines the intersection of the EU’s regulatory approach, dual-use considerations, and the complex legal questions surrounding autonomous and AI-enabled defence systems. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities, risks and opportunities associated with defence AI, and engage in forward-looking discussions on how to ensure lawful, ethical and accountable innovation across Europe’s security and defence ecosystem.
