Alessandra Franchi
Case Handler: European Commission, DG Competition, State aid General Scrutiny and Enforcement – Unit H6 Agriculture and Fisheries
Alessandra in working for DG Competition, in the State aid General Scrutiny and Enforcement Unit, where she deals with State aid policy and State aid decisions in the agriculture and fisheries sectors. She has also worked many years in the State Aid Policy and case Support Unit and the State aid recovery and enforcement Unit, where she dealt with State aid case support and policy issues in all sectors, recovery issues and enforcement of State aid decisions by the public administrations and the national courts of the Member States. Prior to entering the EU Commission, she was the Resident Partner of the Brussels’s office of Studio Legale Pavia e Ansaldo. Alessandra has obtained a Master in European Legal Studies and a Law Degree from the University of Bologna (Italy). She also has a Master in International Legal Studies (LLM) from the New York University (New York, USA), and a Master in Competition Law and Economic from the Brussels School of Competition (Brussels, Belgium). Alessandra has a wide expertise in State aid and Competition law, also acquired in her previous private practice, especially in litigation before the EU Courts in Luxembourg. She is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, and has published articles and books on State aid, Competition, Public Procurement and Consumer Protection.
