Bernhard von Wendland

Bernhard von Wendland is a policy officer with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition. He contributes to policy development and provides case-support, analyses and advice in the area of State aid control. From 2018 until early 2022, he was with the Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation, where his main task was to improve the interplay between the EU’s research and innovation objectives and EU State aid law. From 2004 until 2018, Bernhard was a State-aid case handler with the Directorate General for Competition, working mostly on R&D and innovation aid , SME risk finance aid and aid for the transport sector, and policy development in these fields. Bernhard is a fiscal economist by training.
